Fish Love or Real Love?

I really like this. I’m very grateful to have so many people in my life who truly love – who freely give of themselves to others, and to me. Not necessarily things, but more important endeavors, like time and honesty and conversation and hugs and different kinds of help and the freedom to be ourselves.

I’m very grateful to have been taught by my father that to love is to give of yourself, and that to surround ourselves with those kinds of people is to grow the same qualities in ourselves; and then, to give these things to those we don’t know – even just a smile or a nice hello to a stranger – to cause a ripple in the ether of collective consciousness. This is love – this is what I was taught about love.

I’m very grateful for all the love in my life – both received and given. This is where I now try to focus, even in depressive or very panicky episodes. Love heals. It makes us better. This is what I hope to bring back out of myself and into the world. This is what I hope to teach my son. Not fish love. LOVE. ❤️
